Apache Havoc Collection for PC

Apache Havoc offers a great mix of realism and approachability, so that hard-core fans and novices alike should find a lot to like in the game.
If you take a look at combat helicopter sims, you have two fairly distinct categories. On the one hand, you have Longbow 2, a hard-core sim of the highest order that comes replete with excellent realism, top-notch graphics, and a relatively steep learning curve. On the other hand, you have games like Comanche 3 and Team Apache, which sacrifice varying degrees of realism in favor of fast-paced, easier gameplay and (in the case of Team Apache at least) multiplayer action. Now, along comes Apache Havoc, from Empire Interactive and Razorworks Studios. Where does this two-in-one sim fall along the spectrum of helicopter sims? Right smack in the middle.

Apache Havoc offers a great mix of realism and approachability, so that hard-core fans and novices alike should find a lot to like in the game. Not only do you get to fly either the AH-64D Apache Longbow or the Mil Mi-28 Havoc B, but you also get to take part in three different dynamic campaigns as well as some memorable multiplayer airborne deathmatches.

The game does not include an instant-action feature per se, but you can take off for free flights, dynamic missions, dynamic campaigns, or multiplayer missions (co-op or competitive). Free flight is a good place to start for novices, as the game's flight engine is reasonably accurate and therefore requires some practice to master. Most of the individual realism settings (wind, retreating blade stall, and ground effect, among others) can be dialed up or down to accommodate your skill and preference. Also, the game includes a basic three-level difficulty setting that affects the overall challenge of the missions and campaigns.

(PC) Apache Havoc: Enemy Engaged (2000)
(Complete ISO 461mb / 3D / Helicopter Action Simulation)

Enemy Engaged sets a higher standard for how immersive a flight sim can be, while it also avoids getting mired down in the technical minutiae of combat aviation.

The year 2000 is definitely the year of the helicopter simulation. There've already been two combat rotary-wing sims, including Ka-52 Team Alligator and Gunship. But the new Enemy Engaged: RAH-66 Comanche vs. Ka-52 Hokum is by far the best. Enemy Engaged is Razorworks' sequel to its popular 1999 sim Apache/Havoc, and while it bears a strong resemblance to its predecessor, it also stands on its own.

System Requirements
Windows 98 / XP
System: PII 266 or equivalent
RAM: 64 MB
Video Memory: 8 MB
Hard Drive Space: 300 MB

(PC) Enemy Engaged 2 Reloaded (2007)
(Complete 610mb / 3D / Helicopter Action Simulation)

A once-great helicopter combat sim is still pretty good, if you don't mind the déjà vu.
Seven years is a long time. The latest game to remind us of this unfortunate fact is Enemy Engaged 2, a disappointing sequel to GameSpot's simulation of the year back in 2000, Enemy Engaged: RAH-66 Comanche Versus Ka-52 Hokum. Actually, it's a stretch to even call this a true sequel because this supposedly "new" game is actually just a revamped version of the original with slightly upgraded graphics and some new bugs. There is still an outstanding simulation of helicopter gunship combat buried in here, although it's basically a seven-year-old one with equal parts good and bad new additions.

The best part of this structure is the fluidity of the battlefields. You might be heading off on a run-of-the-mill escort and spot a couple of SAM batteries ripe for the plucking. Or you might be on a routine patrol and catch sight of an enemy destroyer that looks vulnerable. Best of all, if you go off the reservation to blow up a key enemy target, such as a base or a capital ship, the game recognizes this achievement and structures follow-up missions around it. Constant radio messages also relay that you're involved in a wide-ranging war because you can't complete a mission without hearing chatter about tanks being destroyed elsewhere or enemy armor columns being discovered on recon missions to other sections of the front. At any rate, because of the atmosphere of never knowing what you're going to encounter after you kick off the wheel brakes, it's easy to get addicted and rip through one mission after another for hours.

(PC) Enemy Engaged 2: desert operation (2009)
(Complete 485mb / 3D / Helicopter Action Simulation)

Desert Operations is a standalone expansion for G2 Games' helicopter game Enemy Engaged 2, adding three new campaigns (Iran, Afghanistan and Antarctic), new shaders, models, improved multiplayer, and support for different textures in each campaign. Afghanistan campaign is made with multiplayer in mind - canyons, mountains and hills provide great places an ambush.
Desert Operations provides an accurate simulation of both helicopters including realistic flight dynamics, authentic weapons systems and detailed cockpits, displays and instruments. You can fly as both pilot and co-pilot/gunner and the crew are fully animated to increase the immersion.

(PC) Apache Longbow Assault (2004)
(Complete 222mb / 3D / Helicopter Action Simulation)

Apache Longbow Assault is a game that doesn't do too much, but what it does, it does well.
Military helicopter sims are a rarity on the PC nowadays, so it's rewarding to see a game like Apache Longbow Assault come along. It gracefully steers the fine line between serious sim and all-out action game and features some attractive visuals and immersive sound effects. While Apache Longbow Assault suffers from a no-frills campaign and a lack of other game modes, it still offers plenty of exciting combat while letting you fly one of the most powerful helicopters yet built.

Apache Longbow Assault puts you in the cockpit of the US Army's famed Apache attack helicopter, in this case the advanced AH-64D Longbow variant. The Longbow significantly improves on the radar/fire control system, weaponry, and survivability of the original Apache to create an even more lethal helicopter. The Longbow is fast, highly maneuverable, heavily armored, and bristling with advanced weapons.
